Happy Ramadan and Idul Fitri!

Dear Friends and Fellow Laborers,                                                             April/2024

Happy Ramadan and happy Idul Fitri! During the month of Ramadan, Muslims around the world fast during the day and feast once the sun goes down. At the end of Ramadan, which this year is the 8th on May, they celebrate Idul Fitri, a weeklong feast. During this time, Muslim focus on trying to attain forgiveness. Forgiveness from friends and relatives for past hurts, and forgiveness from Allah for their sins. We, working with Veteran Missionary Josh Ewing at his church plant Every Nation, have been able to use this time as an opportunity to share and exchange gifts with a focus on eternal forgiveness through the Messiah who has already come.

A quick update on our language school: Because of Idul Fitri, our classes have a two and a half week break before coming back. When we come back, we will be given 2 classes for each subject, reading, writing, speaking, listening, and grammar, before our final exams at the end of the semester. Please pray for my continued growth and learning of Indonesian even after I finish language school.

This month we have a special blessing. A Veteran missionary with our missions board, Paul Taube, and his family are coming to visit. They are coming to be a blessing and encouragement to the Ewing’s and us, the Looney’s, as we are all missionaries in southeast Asia, and they have been in this part of the world the longest. Please pray for their flight over here from Nepal, as well as their time here that they can be both a blessing and blessed by their time here.

We have almost come to the end of the seasonal change this time of the year. As you may be aware, Indonesia has 2 seasons wet and hot. We are coming to the end of the wet season, and the beginning of the hot season. Whereas for months on end it has seemed like someone is always sick, that is typical of the six or so months of the wet season, no we are moving to the hot season, and it is very important that we stay hydrated and try to keep from overheating while we go out and try to meet people whom we can share the gospel with. Your continued prayer for our health is very much appreciated!

Thank you for being faithful to pray for us, and for our prayer requests. Pray for us to have patience and wisdom to deal with the trials that God allows to come our way. Pray for our children that we may teach them about the Lord so that they may one day have a personal relationship with Him. Lastly, pray for us as we continue to grow together as a family.

With Love in Our Hearts,

In Service to the King,

Jens, Gina, Thalia & Inara Looney

Your Missionaries to Indonesia
